Reading Wrap up for October

October has been a great reading month for me. I have read sixteen books. Sixteen books! I haven't read this much in a long time. I feel very proud of myself. Also I am only one book behind in my goodreads challenge now.I have some new favorites and read a couple that were a little disappointing but overall I enjoyed almost everything I've read this month. I'll put all the books I've read below. Stalking Jack the Ripper is one of my new favorites. I loved the authors writing style, the characters, and the overall vibe of the book. If your looking for a mysterious, creepy book with some romance than you should read this one. This one was a quick read and the art work is beautiful. Also another one of my favorites. It was a wonderful thriller and it's a great Halloween read. This is a wonderful book of poems. It also made my favorites list. Very beautifully written. Really enjoyed  this horror Gothic novel. Another favorite for me. Really loved th

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco Review

“Roses have both Pretty Petals and thorns, my dark flower. You needn’t believe something weak because it appears delicate. Show the world your bravery.”             Audrey Rose is just your ordinary seventeen year old girl except that she is interested in forensic science. In her time, young women should only be concerned with social teas, the latest gossip and embroidery. Audrey Rose would much rather be working with her Uncle in his lab trying to find out her Jack the Ripper is.             My two favorite characters are Audrey Rose and Thomas Cresswell. I couldn’t choose between the two as my favorite so they both receive that honor. Audrey is described as being very pretty but she is more than what she appears. She is strong and very intelligent. She wants to be able to think for herself and make her own decisions. She also loves fashion just as much as she likes forensic science. She doesn’t think that she should have to give up nice clothes because she likes science.

To Nano or Not (Nanowrimo) 2016

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I want to participate in Nanowrimo this year. I’ve finally decided that I’m going to try.  I have a story idea that I just can’t stop thinking about writing, so I thought why not.               I’ve participated in Nanowrimo before and I enjoyed it even though it was exhausting. Since it’s already almost time for Nanowrimo to begin I need to start preparing. Is there anything you do to get ready for Nanowrimo? What are some of the things you need to survive Nanowrimo?  Caffeine is a must for me. Also I like to play classical music in the background while I write. I love playing the Harry Potter soundtracks. What music do you play? Anyway I wish good luck to everyone participating in Nanowrimo this year. I will be posting some updates on here about my progress. Hope everyone has a wonderful Nanowrimo experience.  Also if you want to be my writing buddy I'll insert the link here:  http://nanowrimo.org/participants/hauntedbybooks

Pretty Wicked by Kelly Charron Review

Ryann is a fifteen year old girl whose hobbies include hanging out with friends, cheerleading and murder. She at first thinks she pulls off the perfect crimes but soon realizes that she made mistakes. Will she be able to fix these mistakes or will she end up in prison.             I really enjoyed reading this book even though I didn’t connect to Ryann at all. Which I guess is good considering she’s a serial killer and all. She is very cold and calculating. She is really good at convincing people that she is a normal teenage girl. No one suspects who she really is.             I really enjoyed this book. Ryann was a very interesting character. I didn’t want the book down because I wanted to see what would happen next. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller.             I received an e-book copy of this book from netgalley for review.

The Rosegiver by Sandy Benitez review

Rachel is a seventeen year old girl who is traveling by train to go and stay with her Aunt at a place called Thistle Grove. Once there she will begin her duties as a rosegiver. A rosegiver will do a reading for the person and give them a rose. The roses stand for different things, such as being ill or brokenhearted. When she gets there, however, she discovers that there is more to Thistle Grove than just another small town.             I liked all the characters but I would have to say that my favorite was John. I loved his wit and enjoyed reading his part of the story very much. I also really liked the main character of the story Rachel, but not as much as I did John. The story was interesting and I love how I couldn’t figure out who the villain of the story was until the very end of the book. The story did,  drag in certain places. Overall I enjoyed this book. I recommend to anyone who likes a good mystery and a little horror mixed in.
